A wave of new technologies is transforming the architecture, engineering and construction industries. On May 23, The Architect's Newspaper will host the first trade show and forum to study this convergence: TECH +. During the month of NYCxDesign, the official celebration of New York design, the conference integrates visionary speakers, attractive panels, live demonstrations and product presentations from leaders in emerging fields like virtual reality, smart buildings , Parametric, advanced materials, drones and robotics, AEC software and mobile applications.

Architects, engineers, designers, builders, real estate professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, software developers, students and manufacturers will converge at Metropolitan West in New York City, the center of one of The most dynamic technology markets in America, to discover innovations. Start-ups, meet the best experts and make connections. A conference on new architectural technologies is both necessary and timely, generating new ideas, cross-pollination and innovation.

"We view TECH + as the place where technology companies and the AEC industry converge," said Diana Darling, the architect's newspaper editor. "We want to share what is happening and start bringing people together. These fields are growing rapidly and people are eager to create a community."

Over the past six years, AN has hosted 26 events for Facades +, a series of conferences taking place in cities across the country with a focus on the future of building envelopes. TECH + will build on the success of this series by partnering with the Microsol Resources TechPerspectives conference to organize a full day of inspirational presentations on the innovation phase.

TECH + presenters will include the main speaker Hao Ko, a Gensler executive who helped design the Nvidia headquarters building in Santa Clara, California, and the Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Atlanta; Kerenza Harris, head of Morphosis Architects' cutting-edge technology team; And leaders of innovative companies like Graphisoft, Humanscale, Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), FXFowle, Thornton Tomasetti and more.

Panels will address, among other things, start-up technology investment, workplace design, digital printing and manufacturing, virtual reality environments and on-site drones. More than a dozen exhibitors come from the AEC industry, in areas such as BIM (Building Information Modeling), Virtual Reality (VR), 3D Printing, Engineering, infographics. The conference will also showcase the expertise of some of the city's state-of-the-art incubators and research advanced technology programs at design schools like Columbia GSAPP, Parsons, MIT DesignX and Pratt.

"TECH + is a new type of conference," said Darling. "We are focusing on completely new ideas and techniques, evaluating where the future of the ACS will be and how we will do it."
